About Me

Welcome. I'm Dr Katharine Chaudhuri, a Clinical Psychologist and Accredited Schema Therapist with over twenty-five years of experience helping individuals and groups presenting with a wide range of  mental health and human challenges. This has taken place across a variety of settings, including the NHS. Some of the difficulties I am able to help with include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, mood struggles and trauma. My skills and interest in psychological trauma led me to the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, where I was employed from 2024-6, to support the adoption of a trauma-informed approach throughout its work. Inclusion is deeply important to me and I am committed to ensuring my work is neuro-affirmative, sexuality & gender-affirmative, and culturally inclusive.

I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2006) and remain dedicated to the highest professional standards. As a practitioner regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST), I ensure my practice is safe, ethical, and evidence-based. I maintain full DBS clearance and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). My work is grounded in safeguarding expertise, and I am happy to provide my full CV and fee schedule upon request.

Individual Psychological Assessment & Therapy

I am highly committed to working with others to make changes in their lives, including in their relationship with themselves and others.

In therapy, I provide a warm, safe and validating space. This, in combination with an expertise in developing a psychological understanding of presenting problems, can support you to better understand your difficulties and make sustainable changes to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

Some of the difficulties I am able to help with include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, mood struggles and trauma.

I skilfully tailor therapy to the individual and the focus of therapy is always decided on collaboratively with you, the client. I draw from several evidence-based psychotherapeutic models and predominantly use theory and techniques from Schema Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy), Compassion Focussed Therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). Where helpful, I also support clients in using mindfulness to aid mental health, physical health and overall wellbeing.

Sessions are offered online and at a clinic in Maidstone, Kent.

15 minute free consultations are offered.

Therapy sessions last 50-55 minutes. When appropriate, longer sessions and intensive therapy can be offered.

Clinical supervision

I provide clinical supervision to psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors.

In supervision and therapy, I provide a warm, safe and validating space. It is essential to feel able to bring clinical dilemmas you may be struggling with and I offer supervision focussed on providing support, guidance and skills building. Supervision can also be a space to reflect on career, values, hopes and plans.

I have been qualified as a clinical psychologist for twenty years and have worked with individuals and groups presenting with a wide range of mental health and human challenges. I have supervised assistant, trainee and clinical psychologists, as well as psychotherapists, medical doctors and counsellors. This has taken place predominantly in NHS settings (CMHTs, personality disorder service and rehabilitation services). I have also worked as a manager within a private psychology company and have had my own independent practice for eight years.

I draw from several evidence-based psychotherapeutic models and predominantly use thinking and techniques from Schema Therapy, EMDR, CBT and Compassion Focused Therapy.

I have completed the BPS Approved Certificate in Clinical Supervision- Essential Supervision Skills (Paul Grantham) and I am registered with supervisorplatform.com.

Consultation and training

Throughout my career, consultation has been a key component of positions I have held. This work has usually been with non-psychologists and I  have excellent skills in applying psychological thinking and concepts to a wide range of contexts and communicating in a clear and accessible way.

I am accomplished in developing and delivering training to NHS professionals, magic circle law firms, statutory inquiries and businesses.  I have a clear sense of integrity and creativity, with a record of developing and executing new initiatives. I supported a trauma-informed approach (TIA) across the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, through collaborative working, providing consultation, reviewing documents and papers, delivering training and being a member of delivery boards. I led the Inquiry's Support and Safeguarding team’s input on several work streams, including Every Story Matters, a UK wide listening project. I have also consulted to and delivered training to other inquiries and government departments.

I currently offer training and consultation on trauma-informed approaches, compassionate leadership, neurodiversity in the workplace, mental health & wellbeing, as well as therapy and supervision.

I offer consultation and training as an independent practitioner, often in collaboration with Dr Jordan Quinn (https://quinnpsychologyservices.com). I also work as an associate

with https://www.sasconsultancygroup.co.uk.

"I really value the clinical supervision I’ve received from Katharine. She creates a warm and reflective space to think through complex cases, while also supporting me in navigating private practice and my wider professional development".

dr ashley gibson, clinical psychologist

"Katharine was welcoming, professional and easy to talk to. She was reflective and thoughtful and helped me to identify what I wanted to achieve from therapy sessions".

— nisha

"I had a handful of weekly sessions during which time Katharine helped me see some deep rooted “issues” and she also helped me with tools to manage this independently. Very caring and empathetic".
